ORLANDO, FL – Significant congestion relief has come sooner than expected for motorists traveling along Florida’s Turnpike (SR 91) between Hancock Road and U.S. 27, thanks to an accelerated construction effort on the widening project.

The Lane Construction Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Webuild Group, has advanced construction activities on Florida’s Turnpike/State Road 91 in Minneola to expedite the opening of a third southbound lane – nearly three years early (1,020 days ahead of schedule).

This fast-tracked schedule will ease congestion along one of Florida’s busiest corridors, improving connectivity, reliability, and safety for commuters and travelers. The seven-mile project from Minneola Interchange to north of O’Brien Road adds multiple lanes in both directions, two new ramp movements at U.S. 27, and enhances operational efficiency. This milestone is part of Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise’s broader mainline widening initiative, a critical investment to enhance capacity along a vital freight and hurricane evacuation corridor serving residents and more than 100 million visitors annually.

This achievement highlights Lane’s ability to deliver complex infrastructure ahead of schedule through innovation and collaboration. Building on this momentum, Lane completed the I-275 Section 7 Phase 1 project in Tampa early last year. From major highway expansions to advanced mobility solutions, Lane consistently sets the benchmark for performance and reliability—helping communities travel safer, faster, and smarter.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Lane Construction Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of the Webuild Group, will modernize a critical stretch of Interstate 64 (I-64) in Norfolk, Virginia under a $389 million design-build contract commissioned by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The project is designed to improve travel efficiency and reliability along the Interstate 64 corridor by reducing congestion and offer managed lanes as an alternative during peak travel times in one of the East Coast’s most dynamic regions.

This award reinforces Lane’s leadership in delivering sustainable, resilient infrastructure in one of its key U.S. markets. The company is currently constructing the 4A/4B segment of I-64 from west of Denbigh Boulevard to east of LaSalle Avenue in the Hampton Roads District as well as a $61 million contract for the Minnieville Road Interchange in Prince William County, Virginia. It is also conducting taxiway pavement repairs at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana in Virginia Beach. The contract follows a recently secured $643 million award for the Westshore Interchange project in Florida.

The new project spans approximately seven miles of the I-64 Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL) corridor. It will convert the three existing EB and WB general purpose lanes and shoulders into one part time, high-occupancy express shoulder lane and three General Purpose (GP) lanes in each direction, while widening and/or rehabilitating nineteen bridges and replacing two bridges along the route. These improvements are designed to enhance safety, reduce travel times, and ensure smoother traffic flow. Completion is scheduled for late 2029, with innovative design solutions aimed at minimizing disruption to traffic during construction and reducing long-term maintenance needs.

Lane’s recent delivery of the I-495 NEXT project in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and modernization work at Naval Air Station Oceana further illustrate the company’s role in advancing infrastructure that supports economic growth and more livable communities across the United States—Webuild’s third-largest market by revenue.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Lane Construction Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Webuild Group, recently celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) in Northern Virginia. The event marked the opening of a vital regional mobility improvement that extends Virginia’s Express Lanes network, provides new travel options, and enhances connectivity for hundreds of thousands of travelers along one of the Washington metropolitan area’s busiest corridors.

The 495 NEXT project is a public-private partnership between the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and Transurban, VDOT’s private partner and operator of the 495 Express Lanes. Under contract to Transurban, Lane is responsible for the $441 million design and construction of the $660 million project. The 2.5-mile extension expands the 495 Express Lanes from the Dulles Toll Road interchange to the George Washington Memorial Parkway interchange. The project upgraded interchanges; replaced and widened multiple bridges; and improved safety, drainage, and overall corridor throughput to deliver more reliable travel across the Capital Beltway.

Lane delivered the project while maintaining traffic along the Capital Beltway—one of the most constrained and complex transportation corridors in the region. Crews successfully coordinated staging, bridge replacements, roadway widening, utility relocations, environmental protections, and public-facing construction impacts, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, mobility and long-term durability.

Key Features and Improvements

  • 2.5-mile extension of the 495 Express Lanes, creating an approximately 16.5 mile continuous managed-lanes corridor on I-495 from Springfield to the George Washington Memorial Parkway
  • Rebuilt and improved portions of the I-495/Dulles Toll Road interchange to improve connectivity and offer new connections to the express lanes
  • Replacement and widening of multiple bridges to accommodate future vehicle capacity, provide pedestrian access, and adhere to safety standards
  • New shared-use path adjacent to I-495, coming in mid-2026, to support pedestrian and bicycle connectivity
  • Noise walls, new drainage systems, and roadway safety upgrades throughout the corridor
  • Construction executed while maintaining traffic and mobility on a heavily traveled commuter route during all phases of work

With the opening of the 495 Express Lanes Extension and upcoming completion of the overall 495 NEXT project, Lane strengthens its presence as a major contributor to mobility solutions across the United States. The project joins the company’s expansive portfolio of complex transportation infrastructure delivered nationwide, while the Webuild Group further reinforces its expertise in roadway and bridge construction across global markets.
